I usually do this when I'm conducting something new - or, once in a while, doing a sort of review of which key points to emphasize on... just scanning the materials, specially with a course I have not handled in a long time.
In which case, while my partner is lecturing, I do my quick review - and how long this takes will depend on how much I have to cover for the day, and how much of this I seem to have forgotten. In this particular case, I only had to re-cover a few ideas. Aside from that... well, I was due to have one shot of me for the month, so this might as well be it. I took advantage of a quiet room, so there would be not much distraction, and had the insight to upload the materials into my iPad, so I could study/review without lugging my heavier laptop around - besides, Accenture won't allow me to bring the latter - but does not have issue with me having to bring the former.
