Mom's 75th!
This was something we were hoping to come up with - what with our meager budget, but basically, I went and invited anyone within reach - both relatives and friends, to let them know that we were celebrating Mama's 75th birthday.
I make the announcement 2 months before the date (which was decided to be today), so that people could really set the date aside... and I'm glad that a good number of her close friends did decide to come. In this picture itself, we have Tito Nick, Tito Tim, Tito Greg, Tita Helen, Tito Frankie and Tita Lou all around mama. These represented one barkada of mom - quite active with meeting and sharing their lives during the late 70s up to the early 80s. Some of these friends have not seen each other for nearly a decade (I think), so it really is great to have them sharing this day with her.
That way, I'd like to think that what we lacked in budget, we made up for with the quality of the company. Mom loved this day - she was happy, and has asked me for copies of the pictures I took. So yeah... planned birthday was a success. Hope we have something like this soon... after all, in pictures like this, I (as well as they, I'm sure) are reminded of the happiness they shared, and of absent friends.
