Comics of the week:
Wednesdays are now regularly my new comic book day, specially since I now buy from a shop that more consistently lets me know what comics will be arriving soon, allow me to reserve titles, give me a 10% discount on their selling price and offer free plastics and backing boards. Faster, more dependable, and showing more care for the product. Oh yeah... and some independent titles arrive more dependently too. That's the simple truth.
I get the same discounts and reservations (though at times, it will depend on what they remember I collect, as opposed to what I choose to reserve), and I can't really blame the people on the stalls - they try to give me the service needed... but there are times they are not consistent, or when they are replaced - there goes the service I expected.
Now, what did I look forward to? Aquaman is a consistent quality title. I Vampire is likewise great, Justice League Dark has kept me interested - in fact, I've picked this up regularly, more so than Justice League and Justice League International. Then of course, there's the continuing story of Avengers vs. the X-men... which is a hit or miss thing - a bit frustrating, but then there are some surprising gems here too. I'd say it's to be expected with not just the main story, but with the peripheral books too. But what I was interested to read is Nite Owl. After all, I would like to see how this character started... critics be damned. I'm more a Watchmen fan than an Alam Moore purist. So I will definitely read this and the other interesting titles (Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan, to mentions a few).
